JOB DESCRIPTION
General Summary
Manages the AFRS operational teams at both the main fire station and sub fire station and leads the rescue and fire fighting operation at aircraft accidents/incidents at both runways and other emergencies at the airport with the primary objective of saving lives.
Essential Position Functions
- Manages the AFRS operational teams under his command at both the main fire station and sub fire station and ensures in-shift administration concerning his personnel (safety, discipline, service, welfare, etc.) complies to company rules and regulations;
- Leads the rescue and fire fighting operation at aircraft accidents/incidents at both runways and other emergencies at the airport and make decisions under pressure towards resolving a situation, which requires speed and decisiveness, with the primary objective of saving lives;
- Assumes initial command and control at structural incident/accidents at the airport pending the arrival of relevant authorities;
- Ensures that relevant standards, procedures and operational practices are adhered to by the AFRS operation under his command to ensure compliance to international and national standards (ICAO, ISO, etc.);
- Appraises the performance and discipline of his personnel and be accountable for their human performance management results;
- Manages daily inter-shift schedule (fire vehicle, equipment and fire station maintenance) ensuring that these duties and responsibilities are carried out on schedule and according to AFRS procedures;
- Trains his personnel by conducting in-shift training sessions (lectures, exercises and drills) to motivate and enhance their knowledge, skill and efficiency related to rescue and fire fighting and other functions relevant to the service;
- Enforces AFRS Rating Standard programme, to ensure fitness of personnel under his command, to enable them to perform strenuous rescue and fire fighting duties;
- Ensures that his men are thoroughly familiar with the aerodrome topography and layout of buildings at the airports to facilitate rapid deployment during emergencies at the airport.
KEY CHALLENGES
- To reduce the incidence and consequence of fire and to provide a professional response to other emergencies;
- To ensure that his personnel are capable, regardless of age, of carrying out strenuous fire fighting and rescue duties at aircraft or other emergencies at the airport;
- To ensure that personnel under his command maintain a high degree of discipline at all times as a uniformed personnel by adhering to AFRS codes and ethics
SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
- Understands all national and international regulations;
- Monitors the level of protection provided at an aerodrome;
- Manages the administration, budget, procurement and AFRS logistics;
- Performs compliance audits and works closely with internal audit division;
- Ensure airport emergency exercises and evacuation drill are carried out;
- Ensure AFRS compliance with regulatory concerns at the company’s airports.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Applied Science, Engineering, Busness Administration, Sports Science or related discipline
- Preferably from a local institution recognised by the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA)
- Minimum CGPA of 2.50 or equivalent

- NOT LESS than 18 years old and NOT EXCEEDING 30 years old as of 31 December 2026 OR
- NOT EXCEEDING 35 years old as of 31 December 2026 for former members of ATM and JBPM
- PHYSICAL
- Minumum Height : 1.60 meters (without shoes)
- Body Mass Index (BMI) : 19 - 28
- HEALTH STATUS
- Medically fit with NO physical disabilities (including history of serious injuries such as bone fractures).
- MUST NOT be diagnosed with heart disease, chronic illnesses, or hereditary conditions.
- MUST have normal eyesight without glasses or contact lenses and MUST NOT be colour blind or have squint eyes.
- CRIMINAL RECORD
- NO criminal record and history of drug abuse.
- All information will be verified with PDRM, courts, and AADK.
