Job Description

POSITION GENERAL SUMMARY

  • The Executive together with the AODM will ensure KLIA and klia2 functions in an effective manner as 24 hours reporting, monitoring, coordinating and command centre.
  • The Executive will ensure compliance of operational and emergency procedures for the KLIA and klia2, and coordinate the implementation of the procedures for smooth operations of airports.

 

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS

  • To monitor the overall day to day operations of KLIA & klia2 to ensure the safety and efficiency of the airport operations on 24 hours shift basis.

  • Follow up and ensure closure of all reported complaints and maintenance issues reported by stakeholders.

  • Prepare periodic reports to management on the operational status of the airport and make recommendations for improving effectiveness of services or practice.

  • Update the MA Sepang Management on status of operations accordingly pertaining to any abnormality or incident that would disrupt KLIA or klia2 airport operations. 

  • In the situation of crisis, the Executive will running through all necessary checklist to ensure that all actions sequence is complied with. 

  • To analyze information, data and passenger forecast in order to improve operational decision-making by driving the implementation of PRS, Single Token etc during day-to-day operations

  • To resolve operational issues using real time information and problem solving skill 

  • To coordinate and communicate with all internal and external stakeholders involved in order to ensure the procedures are implemented according policy and procedures during day to day operations.

  • To gather, analyse and intepret external and internal data to produce reports hourly and daily report

  • To put up the backup/fall back procedures in ensuring the airport and activities are not interrupted when any minor or major crisis occur.

  • Co-ordinates the provision of resources requested by the authorities consistent with the AEP. Deploys necessary resources to ensure effective management of the crisis.

  • Handle operations effectively while managing the on-going crisis.

  • Strategy & Planning - 
    • Identifying and obtaining support and advice required for the management, planning and control of programme / project
    • Evaluate and improve the efficiency of business processes and procedures to enhance speed, quality, efficiency, and output.
    • Prepare the business plan activities and budgeting within the unit / department
    • Develop quick win, short term strategies and perform corrective action

  • Operational (Monitoring & Control)
    • Ensuring the delivery of the services from business plan / programme / project is to the appropriate level of quality, on time and within budget
    • Monitor and report project / programme progress , budgeted expenses and coordinate issues resolution
    • Managing and coordinating the staff and contractors, daily operations,  projects and programs

  • Stakeholder Management & Communication
    • Conducting a programme / project evaluation review to gather lessons learnt
    • Ensures there is prompt and effective communication both internally and externally to keep all relevant stakeholders informed

  • People Management
    • Demonstrate an employee-oriented company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement and high performance.
    • Planning, monitoring and directing the work of a group of individuals and ensure corrective action  are taken when necessary

Key Challenges

 

  • Ensure thorough knowledge in managing airport operations and their ability to perform monitoring, coordinating, directing during critical event.
  • Highly dependent on IT system performance (CCTV, FIDS, OIS etc) to performance units’ daily routine jobs.
  • Dependency on other units/agencies performance in day to day operations. Failure in the delivery of their services can cause major disruption to the overall Airport system and facilities operations.
  • Accessibility of required information from other agencies.

Education

Internal        

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline preferably in Airport Management or Aviation Management or equivalent.
  • Diploma in any discipline preferably in Airport Management or Aviation Management or equivalent.
  • STPM with at least 3 principals. 
  • SPM with;
  • Bahasa Malaysia - Credit
  • English - Pass
  • Mathematics – Pass    

External        

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Airport Management or Aviation Management or equivalent with CGPA of ≥ 3.0         

Relevant Industries

Internal

  • Diploma with 2 years working experience in supervisory any discipline, preferably in Transports, Operations Management, Aviation Management, Airport Planning and / or Air Traffic Control
  • Certificate /STPM with at least 3 years working experience in Supervisory role in airport operations
  • SPM with at least 5 years working experience in  Supervisory in airport operations
  • Must achieve and maintain the following performance rating for two (2) consecutive years of at least:

    -Exceptional / A or Outstanding / B; and

    -Minimum Meet Expectations / C

    -The employee must not be subjected to disciplinary punishments except for disciplinary counseling, caution, reminder & warning for the past 36 consecutive months.

External

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 1 year relevant working experience in Supervisory role.
  • Good knowledge in all aspect of Airport Operations and familiar with IATA Worldwide Slot Guidelines.
