Job Description

POSITION GENERAL SUMMARY

Operation and maintenance work of Engineering Building Services.

 

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS

 

  • To assist Senior Executive of Engineering Building Services, KLIA on O&M works for M&E and C&S System.
  • To ensure smooth and efficient operation and maintenance of facilities by implementing effective maintenance work and planning.
  • To coordinate with others parties to ensure effective implementation of Operation and Maintenance services with targetted to avoid any interruption to the airport operation.
  • To ensure Operation & Maintenance services are in accordance with the agreed standard.
  • To implement the development work, upgrading and modification works effectively.
  • To ensure facilities and system are in good condition at all time.
  • To monitor and certify work done by contractor.
  • To implement SAP System for the operation and maintenance work effectively.
  • To ensure immediate recovery of system breakdown and facilities.
  • To attend develop technically competent personnel trainning.
  • To review; improve; comply and maintain the maintenance procedures and records accordance to ISO 9001:2000 requirement.
  • To plan the operation and maintenance budget.
  • To plan and control operation and maintenance expenses within the approved budget.
  • To coordinate regular meeting with contractors and to resolve issues.
  • To perform other ad-hoc task or duties as directed by superior (s) or management from time to time.

  • Maintaining Operations in a Live 24/7 Environment
    Airports operate continuously with no tolerance for downtime. Engineers must plan and execute maintenance, rectification, and upgrade works without disrupting passenger movement, airline operations, safety systems, or regulatory compliance.

  • Managing Complex and Critical Infrastructure
    Airports consist of highly integrated and safety-critical systems (M&E, C&S, airside, landside, IT, and safety systems). Many assets are aging and require proactive maintenance, risk management, and system redundancy to ensure reliability and resilience.

  • Strict Safety and Regulatory Compliance
    Engineers must comply with stringent aviation, safety, and statutory requirements while coordinating with multiple regulators, airlines, contractors, and stakeholders. Any non-compliance can have significant operational, safety, and reputational impacts.

Skills

  • Integrated Building Systems Knowledge
    Strong understanding of M&E systems (HVAC, electrical distribution, fire protection, lifts, escalators, plumbing) and C&S elements (structure, roofing, drainage, architectural finishes), including how these systems interface and affect overall building performance.

  • Technical Drawing & Specification Interpretation
    Ability to read, interpret, and verify engineering drawings, schematics, method statements, and technical specifications for both M&E and C&S works to ensure compliance with design intent and standards.

  • Maintenance & Asset Management Expertise
    Knowledge of preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance strategies, asset condition assessment, and life-cycle management to maintain system reliability and optimize operating costs.

  • Fault Diagnosis & Root Cause Analysis
    Capability to troubleshoot system failures across M&E and C&S disciplines, identify root causes, assess risks, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.

  • Regulatory, Safety & Code Compliance Knowledge
    Familiarity with relevant statutory requirements, building codes, safety regulations, and aviation standards to ensure all engineering works meet legal, safety, and operational requirements.

Education

Degree in Mechanical / Electrical/ Civil & Structural Engineering

Relevant Industries

Relevant experience and sound understanding of building facility management practices will be considered an added advantage.
