Job Description
POSITION GENERAL SUMMARY
- Assist the Finance Centre of Excellence (COE) – Tax in managing and executing all aspects of tax compliance, reporting, and analysis for both direct and indirect taxes. This role supports the Group’s tax obligations by preparing tax returns, ensuring accurate documentation, assisting with tax audits, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of tax regulations. The incumbent provides operational support to the Manager – Finance (COE – Tax) and contributes to improving tax processes, accuracy, and compliance standards across the organisation.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
1. Tax Compliance and Reporting
- Prepare and assist in the review of corporate income tax computations and returns.
- Support the preparation of monthly and quarterly SST returns, reconciliations, and related documentation.
- Assist in the preparation of tax provisions, deferred tax workings, and schedules for financial reporting.
- Maintain up-to-date tax records and ensure timely submission of tax filings to authorities.
2. Tax Advisory Support
- Assist in research and analysis of tax legislation, rulings, and updates to identify implications for the Group.
- Support the evaluation and application of tax incentives, exemptions, and rebates where applicable.
- Assist with ad-hoc tax queries and provide initial analysis for internal stakeholders under guidance.
3. Transfer Pricing and Cross-Border Matters
- Support in preparing and maintaining transfer pricing documentation in line with Group policies and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in gathering data for intercompany transaction analysis and reporting.
4. Tax Governance and Risk Management
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with internal tax policies, controls, and standard operating procedures.
- Assist in internal and external audits by preparing required documentation and responding to audit queries.
- Maintain proper record-keeping for all tax correspondence and filings.
5. Collaboration and Stakeholder Liaison
- Liaise with business units, Finance, Legal, and other departments to obtain information for tax filings and analysis.
- Coordinate with external tax agents, consultants, and auditors on tax-related matters.
- Communicate with tax authorities for follow-ups, clarifications, or document submissions.
6. Continuous Improvement
- Support initiatives to automate or streamline tax processes and reporting.
- Contribute to standardisation and documentation of COE processes for efficiency and consistency.
- Participate in training and knowledge-sharing sessions to build professional competence.

- Meeting tight deadlines for multiple tax filings and reporting cycles.
- Ensuring accuracy and consistency in tax data sourced from multiple systems or departments.
- Keeping up-to-date with evolving tax regulations and their operational impact.
- Balancing technical accuracy with efficient task execution under supervision.
Skills
- Basic understanding of direct and indirect tax laws (Income Tax, SST, and Transfer Pricing principles).
- Ability to prepare tax computations, returns, and supporting schedules.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP) for tax data extraction and reporting.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
- Good interpersonal, communication, and writing skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Ability to work collaboratively, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
Education
- Degree preferably in Accounting/Finance
Relevant Industries
External
- Degree holder with minimum CGPA 3.0 and minimum 1 year relevant experience.
Unique Requirement
- Professional qualifications (ACCA, CPA, MIA, ICAEW, or equivalent) in progress is an advantage.
- Good knowledge of basic tax compliance processes and exposure to both direct and indirect taxes.
- Ability to perform under supervision and contribute effectively in a team environment.
- Familiarity with ERP or tax compliance software preferred.
