Job Description

POSITION GENERAL SUMMARY

Manage the implementation of GST at MAHB.

 

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS

STRATEGIC

  • Assist SM on legal ways to minimise incidences of tax through informed application of tax laws and regulations.
  • Provide support to Business Owners on ad – hoc tax-driven initiatives. 
  • Assist in necessary Management Papers to be submitted for Taxation requirements.
  • Formulate appropriate guidance to sub-ordinate Tax professional who are less experience taking both needs of Tax laws and operational requirements.

FUNCTIONAL

  • Timely management of corporate tax compliance submission to IRB.
  • Effective management of Transfer Pricing document retention and submission of documents to IRB of Malaysia or any other countries that MAHB operates in.
  • Review of current and deferred tax provisions in Malaysia with necessary endorsement from MAHB external Auditor
  • Keeping close contacts and keeping abreast with changes to taxation environment in Malaysia including understanding of general accepted practices by Tax Regulators
  • Key liaison with external tax agent on any tax position suggested and endorsed by Tax agent for submission of Returns
  • Review tax calculations, estimates and reports including those for internal management purposes, partnering with BPs and other Business Owners
  • Internal Tax Advisory support for operational and business needs including those at Procurement and Legal drafting stage.

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT

  • Provide basic technical guidance to Team including in house training for requirements of Tax laws and regulations
  • Provide coach- coaches method for handling business issues involving tax matters
  • Develop systems to encourage tax presentation materials to be shared amongst team members

Key Challenges

  • Manage the implementation of GST in the Group.
  • Monitor and ensure accurate submission of GST returns.

Skills

  • Experience / knowledge of cross-border transaction and indirect tax
  • Well-versed of Malaysian income tax industry and its updates as well as the recent development internationally
  • Good verbal and written communication with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work well as a team, prioritize and multi-task.
  • Strong work ethics, integrity and self-motivated.
  • Analytical mind-set with attention to details. 
  • Ability to work well as a team, prioritize and multi-task.

Education

External

  • Degree Certificate preferably with Accounting/Finance
  • Master Degree would be an added advantage

Relevant Industries

External

  • Degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience.

 

Unique Requirement

  • Professional Qualification (ICAA,  ICAEW, CPA, ACCA, CIMA or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
