Position General Summary
- To standardize enterprise-wide risk management protocols and lead comprehensive cross-business incident investigations. This role acts as the guardian of the "Just Culture" framework, ensuring investigations focus on Systemic Root-Cause Analysis rather than human error, and driving the Group's Learning From Incidents (LFI) programs (Lesson Learned)
Essential Position Functions
1. Incident Investigation
- Lead major incident investigations across MAHB and its subsidiaries to identify the root causes and contributing factors.
- Prepare investigation reports with practical recommendations to prevent similar incidents.
- Monitor the implementation of corrective and preventive actions to ensure improvements are effective.
2. Risk Management
- Develop and standardize risk management processes across the Group.
- Review safety risk assessments to ensure significant risks are identified and controlled.
- Support business units in improving their safety risk management practices.
- Promote Safety by Design by ensuring safety risks are considered during planning and project development.
3. Just Culture & Learning from Incidents
- Promote a Just Culture that encourages open and honest reporting without fear of blame.
- Lead the Learning from Incidents (LFI) programme by sharing lessons learned and good practices across the Group.
- Analyse incident trends and recommend improvement initiatives to reduce future risks.
4. Emergency Preparedness
- Support the development and improvement of emergency response procedures across MAHB.
- Review emergency exercises and actual incidents to identify improvement opportunities.
- Work with relevant stakeholders to strengthen emergency preparedness and business resilience.
5. Regulatory & Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate with regulatory authorities such as CAAM, DOSH, MOT and AAIB during accident and incident investigations.
- Ensure investigations comply with applicable regulations and company requirements.
- Prepare reports and presentations for management and relevant committees on investigation findings and safety performance.
Key Challenges
- Able to respond quickly to accident or incident locations when required.
- Willing to travel to airports and operational sites.
- Able to work under pressure while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
Skills
- Good knowledge of Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Safety Management System (SMS), risk assessment and incident investigation.
- Good analytical, communication and report writing skills.
- Able to work with different stakeholders and provide practical safety solutions.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, Aviation Management, Risk Management or a related field.
- Professional certification in Incident Investigation (e.g. ICAM) is an added advantage.
Relevant Industries
External
- Minimum 5 years of experience in risk management, incident investigation, or safety management within aviation or other high-risk industries.
- Experience working with regulatory authorities and leading investigations is preferred.
