Job Description
POSITION GENERAL SUMMARY
- To lead and executing the Wildlife Hazard Management Programme (WHMP) at the airport in line with ICAO, CAAM, and MAHB requirements to ensure safe flight operations through effective wildlife risk mitigation strategies.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
- Lead the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Wildlife Hazard Management Program.
- Supervise and coordinate Operational-level Wildlife Officers and field teams.
- Develop and review Wildlife Risk-Based Assessments and WHMP documentation.
- Analyze trends and generate daily/weekly/monthly reports.
- Prepare and present wildlife data analysis and reports to MAHB HQ and regulators.
- Liaise with AOCC, Engineering, and external consultants for long-term habitat management.
- Plan wildlife-related training and awareness programs for staff and stakeholders.
- Plan and oversee procurement processes, maintenances, and calibration of wildlife control equipment.
- Conduct periodic performance evaluations and field audits of operational staff.
- Coordinate wildlife strike investigations and lead root cause analysis.
- Organize a periodic stakeholders engagement and awareness programs related to airside wildlife safety.
- Balancing ecological factors with flight safety, particularly in managing and predicting seasonal and migratory wildlife threats.
Key Challenges
- Ensuring effective inter-departmental and organizations collaboration as well as maintaining effective wildlife deterrence in a dynamic and complex airside environment in accordance to CAD 1400, DOC 9137 (Part 3) , DOC 9184 (Part 2), & IBIS.
Skills
- Strong Leadership and communication Skill
- Proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia
- Computer Literate
- Familiarity with aviation standards especially in CAAM Civil Aviation Directives, CAAM CAGM, ICAO SARPS and other related documents.
- Required skills: Radiotelephony Communication Skill, Supervisory Skill, airside operations knowledge & able to operate manual transmission vehicle.
- Energetic & Self Motivated.
- Willingness to perform a variety of jobs as requested.
- Good Proofreading skills.
- Takes initiative and can start/complete tasks with basic direction.
- Ability to learn & follow instructions.
Education
Internal
- Diploma/ Degree in Environmental Science, Wildlife Biology, Aviation Management, or related discipline.
External
- Degree in Environmental Science, Wildlife Biology, Aviation Management, or related discipline.
Relevant Industries
Internal
- Degree 3 years of executive and related working experience in airport operations
- Diploma with 5 years of executive and related working experience in airport operations
- Must achieve and maintain the following performance rating for two (2) consecutive years of at least:
-Exceptional / A or Outstanding / B; and
-Minimum Meet Expectations / C
-The employee must not be subjected to disciplinary punishments except for disciplinary counseling, caution, reminder & warning for the past 36 consecutive months.
External
- 5 years with related working experience
Unique Requirement :
- Experience in wildlife hazard management OR airport operations.
- Strong analytical, leadership, and coordination skills.
- Familiarity with ICAO, CAAM, and CAGM standards related to WHMP.
- Competency in data analytics and reporting tools.
- Valid Class D driving licence.
