Job Description

POSITION GENERAL SUMMARY

To provide professional legal services on all aspects of law with the aim to safeguard the Company and its subsidiaries’ interests and to ensure that its rights and interests are protected at all times.

 

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS

1. Advisory

  • to provide legal views, opinions or recommendations to the company or its subsidiaries on matters relating to - (1) legal issues affecting the day to day operation of the company or its subsidiaries; (2) the legality of the transactions or the company’s policies/manuals/procedures; (3) compliance of laws or requirements by regulatory bodies; (4) interpretation of laws; (4) settlement of disputes or legal proceedings; and (5) interpretation / issues relating to any agreements or other related legal documents.

 

2. Drafting / Reviewing / Amending of Documents

  • to draft/review/amend any agreements or other related legal documents involving the company/subsidiaries.
  • to draft/review/amend the existing company/subsidiaries policies/manuals/procedures.
  • to draft/review/amend board papers or any internal documents for approval. 
  • to draft/review/amend external or internal correspondences. 
  • to review the legal aspect of the tender documents submitted by external parties and to provide legal findings. 
  • to translate any document from English language to Malay language or vice versa. 
  • to review and update all relevant existing internal documents in line with the new/amended legislation or the latest requirements/directions by regulatory bodies.

 

3. Litigation / Dispute Resolution

  • to review/amend the cause papers prepared by panel solicitors.
  • to liaise with the relevant internal divisions and to consolidate all the relevant documents in preparation of the legal proceeding.
  • to provide status of legal proceedings as and when required to the management and external auditors.
  • to monitor progress of the legal proceedings from time to time with the Finance Division and panel solicitors.
  • to organize meetings between the panel solicitors and the relevant internal divisions.
  • to obtain and consolidate legal records for trial purposes.
  • to attend court trial or any other forum as and when required.

 

4. To conduct legal research and to prepare a research write up on various matters relating to the company/subsidiaries upon instructions from the General Manager/Senior Manager/Manager.

 

5. To conduct audit from time to time at the relevant airports and to provide findings and recommendations from the audit.

 

6. To conduct talk or legal clinic to the internal employees on various legal matters with the aim to educate the employees of the company/subsidiaries.

6. To represent the company or its subsidiaries in negotiations and meetings particularly on legal related matters as instructed with external parties and governmental agencies.

 

7. To prepare and publish legal articles on yearly basis with the aim to educate the employees of the company/subsidiaries.

 

8. To provide feedback to governmental agencies or regulatory bodies on matters affecting the company/subsidiaries. 

 

9. All other duties as instructed by the Company and the General Manager/Senior Manager from time to time including involvement in high level projects or any other administrative work in the Legal Services Division.

Skills

  • Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literate.
  • Self-sufficient and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Good knowledge on the relevant laws pertaining to the aviation industry is an added advantage. 

Relevant Industries

External

1. A degree holder of Bachelor of Laws (LLB).

2. A minimum of four (4) years' post qualification legal experience.

3. Admitted to the Malaysian Bar as an advocate and solicitor is an added advantage.

4. Experienced as a practicing lawyer and/or other related in-house legal counsel in previous employments.

5. Candidates with legal experience in the aviation industry field is an added advantage.

Education

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB)
